THE SNOW QUEEN'S SHADOW by Jim C. Hines (July 5, 2011)
The fourth in Jim C. Hines' princess novels, takes us to a land of fairy tales reimagined. Snow White (and her princess counterparts) are not to be trifled with. Hines turns dainty princesses into badass heroines that have fantastical adventures. Go to the link, read the first chapter, and if you're not hooked then I'm going to pretend I don't know you. You should also follow the author's blog and watch for my interview with him coming soon! There may be a copy of THE SNOW QUEEN'S SHADOW in it for you!
MY LIFE AS A WHITE TRASH ZOMBIE by Diana Rowland (July 5, 2011)
The cover is what caught my eye on this one. It's done by my favorite artist, Dan Dos Santos. You may recognize his art from the Mercy Thompson series or Sanderson's Warbreaker, among many others. After being drawn in by the cover art, the title hooked me. I mean, I've known some white trash zombies, and they're always entertaining. This novel has some lite horror and features a teenage-delinquent-turned-zombie protagonist. You had me at the brains tattoo...
FOREVER by Maggie Stiefvater (July 12, 2011)
I've been waiting for FOREVER, well, forever. Stiefvater's lyrical prose and captivating romance between Grace and Sam (and later Isabel and Cole) are what keep me coming back to this series. I'm not sure if FOREVER is the conclusion, but I can't wait to get my hands on it.
WOLFSBANE by Andrea Cremer (July 26, 2011)
July seems to be the month for teenage werewolf series. I read NIGHTSHADE last year and enjoyed it, but it left me with a bit of a cliffhanger (not cool, bro). Now WOLFSBANE is almost here and I'm bouncing in my seat with anticipation. Personally, I'm on Team Shay, even if he is a bit of a wet noodle. Don't hate the nice guys!
SKIN DIVE by Ava Gray (July 5, 2011)
Ava Gray is the pseudonym of Ann Aguirre, science fiction and urban fantasy bestseller. I haven't picked up her Skin series, but I have read some great books under her Aguirre name. SKIN DIVE looks pretty hot and saucy for paranormal romance lovers. Fugitive chick with power to heal and amnesiac hottie boyfriend are chased by a bounty hunter. Chaos ensues. Smexy happens. With Ann/Ava's awesome writing, I don't think you can go wrong with this one.
SHADOW FALL by Seressia Glass (July 26, 2011)
Seressia Glass is another author I met at WFC 2010. She sat on a panel on mythology in fantasy that I particularly enjoyed, and she was kind enough to sign some books for me. I bought her entire Shadow series (all that was out at the time) and loved them! Ancient Egyptian mythos with a kickass heroine and a lot of romance. I'm looking forward to the next installment!
A DANCE WITH DRAGONS by George R.R. Martin (July 12, 2011)
I have only two words to say about this: Finally. Mine.
Anyone else been dying for this one for YEARS?
GHOST STORY by Jim Butcher (July 26, 2011)
Oh Jim, I am your biggest fangirl, but you have kept me on a cliff for over a year! WHY? Is Harry alive? Dead? In-betweenie? Why have you done this to your bestest fan, Jim? I cry!
Ahem... Sorry about that.
The next book in the fantastic Dresden Files series comes out this month. When we last left our hero, Harry Dresden had been freaking shot. I cannot begin to tell you how much I am jumping up and down in anticipation for GHOST STORY. If you haven't read this series, stop what you're doing and start.
